The Dutch government has granted a consortium that includes oil majors Royal Dutch Shell and ExxonMobil around 2 billion euros ($2.4 billion) in subsidies for what is set to become one of the largest carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in the world, the Port of Rotterdam said on Sunday.

Exxon mulls closure of Norway's Slagen refinery as region's clean fuel shift continues
ExxonMobil is considering closing its 116,000 b/d Slagen refinery in Norway to convert the site into a fuel import terminal, the company said April 8, marking a potential further casualty of Europe's surplus refining capacity as the region's fuel demand shrinks and competition from new markets continues to grow.

Shell-Exxon aims at $2.5 billion in Dutch subsidies for carbon storage
A consortium that includes oil majors Royal Dutch Shell and ExxonMobil has requested a total of 2.1 billion euros ($2.55 billion) in subsidies for a project to store CO2 gasses in empty Dutch gas fields in the North Sea, the Dutch Economy ministry said on Thursday.
