Economic slowdown and lower Chinese fuel demand put additional bearish pressure. Hence, Brent crude decreased by $1.59, or 1.7%, to settle at $90.03 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude dropped by $2.64, or 3.1%, to end at $82.82 a barrel.

Daily (23.09.2022): Crude oil prices rebounded on Thursday amid strengthening Chinese demand

Crude oil prices rebounded on Thursday amid strengthening Chinese demand and a smaller-than-expected rate hike by the Bank of England, which instead of forecasts for a 75-basis point hike opted for a 50-bp increase. Thus, Brent crude and WTI crude added 0.7% to settle at $90.46 a barrel and $83.49 per barrel respectively.

Oil prices fell on Monday as poor Chinese economic data fuelled fears of a worldwide recession, which would reduce fuel consumption. Hence, Brent crude settled down $3.05, or 3.1%, to $95.10 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude dropped by $2.68, or 2.9%, to close at $89.41 a barrel.
