Putin bans Russian oil exports to countries that implement price cap
President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday delivered Russia's long-awaited response to a Western price cap, signing a decree that bans the supply of crude oil and oil products from Feb. 1 for five months to nations that abide by the cap.

Octopus Energy signs 2.4TWh PPA with Shell Energy Europe in UK
The UK-based Octopus Energy Group has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Shell Energy Europe to procure 2.4TWh of wind energy a year from the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm.

Daily (19.12.2022): Energy complex fell on Friday as cold snap is set to end
Crude oil prices continued to lose ground on Friday, dragged down by worries about an impending recession after central banks in Europe and North America made it clear they would continue to battle inflation aggressively. Brent crude futures fell by $2.17, or 2.7% to settle at $79.04 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude slipped by $1.82, or 2.4%, to end at $74.29 a barrel.

Daily (16.12.2022): British gas prices soared by about 3% on Thursday amid colder weather, increased storage withdrawals
Crude oil prices retreated on Thursday as traders fretted about the fuel demand outlook amid a stronger dollar and additional interest rate increases by international central banks. Hence, Brent crude fell by $1.49, or 1.8%, to settle at $81.21 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped by $1.17, or 1.5%, to settle at $76.11 a barrel.

UK government to ease ban on onshore wind farms to head off revolt
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's government on Tuesday said it would ease restrictions on building onshore wind farms, heading off a revolt by his party's lawmakers who had demanded they should be permitted with local support.
