Brent crude oil registered a slight increase, buoyed by supply concerns in Middle East, as the Syrian civil war has impeded development of Iraq's oil and gas reserves and a key pipeline to the Mediterranean has exploded dozens of times. Brent oil increased 44 cents to settle at $107.85 per barrel.

UK registered a 44% increase in its oil fields in the North Sea

According to a new report by Deloitte's Petroleum Services Group (PSG) the number of fields which started producing oil and gas in the UK, last year hit its highest level in five years, as a number of operators have done more attention on development activity.

Algeria is likely to increase oil and gas production

Algeria is aiming to increase its oil and natural gas production by 50% and 100 percent respectively within 10 years helped by major exploration success last year and by shale gas which would have an important role to achieve the ambitious plan. The minister projected Algeria's recoverable reserves at between 25 and 30 trillion cubic feet.

Daily: Europe spot power prices increase on higher consumption, colder weather

Brent oil futures dropped towards $107 a barrel on Monday as investors threw away risky assets over worries about slowing emerging market economies, but U.S. crude held up following a cold snap. Meanwhile, Brent crude dropped 55 cents to $107.33 a barrel by 14:54 GMT. But U.S. oil climbed 26 cents to $96.90.

IEA encourages Europe to increase shale gas output

The International Energy Agency (IEA) is encouraging Europe to boost its shale gas output, being concerned about high prices of European gas, suggesting Brussels to minimize the activity of energy-intensive industries such as cement and steel, while trimming the subsidies for green energy.
