ENI obtains refund from Statoil on revised gas agreement

ENI, a major integrated energy company based in Italy and one of Europe’s leading gas wholesalers, inked an agreement on Thursday to review its long-term gas supply contract with Norway's Statoil that is supposed to increase its operating profit by approximately 1 billion euros ($1.4 billion) in 2014.

Eni has made an important oil and gas discovery in Congo

Italian oil and gas company Eni has made an important oil and gas discovery in the Marine XII block located about 17 km offshore Congo, at the Nene Marine 3 well. According to the company, the field where the well is sited might contain about 1.2 billion barrels of oil and 30 billion cubic metres of gas in place.

Daily: European spot power prices deviate, widening the spread between contracts

Brent crude oil prices declined on Monday, but the losses were capped after traders started to purchase contracts to offset the spread between the European benchmark and its U.S. counterpart, West Texas Intermediate. Brent slipped 36 cents to settle at $106.04 a barrel, after declining during the session to a near three-month low of $105.40.
