Huge offshore wind park launches in North Sea after $3 billion support
One of the world’s biggest offshore wind farms is officially launched. The Gemini Offshore Wind Park, which is located 85 kilometers off the coast of the Netherlands and has a capacity of 600 megawatt (MW), covers 68 square kilometers and has 150 Siemens wind turbines. Around 2.8 billion euros ($3.05 billion) was invested in the project.

BP and Kosmos Energy find an important gas reservoir offshore Senegal
BP and its partner Kosmos Energy have recently made an important discovery of a gas reservoir offshore Senegal, during drilling the Yakaar-1 exploration well. Yakaar-1 well is situated in the Cayar Offshore Profond block, approximately 95kms northwest of Dakar.

EU offshore attracted a record investment of €18 billion in 2016
A record of €18.2 billion in new offshore wind farms in Europe was invested last year, out of total wind farm investments of €43 billion, according to data published by WindEurope.

Germany authorised low cost offshore wind farms beyond 2020
Germany authorized 1,490 megawatts (MW) of offshore wind capacity on the German North Sea at lower than expected costs, proving that the renewable energy source can operate with lower support payment than it presently gets.
