Daily: European prompt power prices tumble on stronger supply, nuclear reactor return

Crude oil prices curbed losses to close slightly higher on Monday as a short-covering ahead of the front-month contract expiration in U.S crude spurred the market weakened by concerns about increasing gasoline stockpiles. Initially, oil prices were also influenced by worries about the potential fallout from the Greek debt crisis, counterbalancing positive impact from a stockpile draw at the Cushing, Oklahoma. Brent crude rose by 32 cents, or 0.5 percent, to settle at $63.34 a barrel, after easing almost $1 earlier. WTI crude boosted 7 cents, or 0.1 percent, to close at $59.68 a barrel, as its front-month July contract expired.

Daily: European forward prices hit 11-week highs on forecasts of winter cold snap

Crude prices settled lower, with Brent trading below $80 a barrel, after a volatile session on Monday, as Russia tried to influence OPEC to cut production. Benchmark Brent crude oil's front-month contract closed down 68 cents at $80.28 a barrel. U.S. crude's front-month declined 73 cents to fluctuate between $75.48 and $77.02.

Daily: British spot gas trades at the lowest level since October 2010 on weak demand, health supply

Brent crude oil futures increased, while U.S. crude oil limited losses on Thursday in a nervous trading as the euro and dollar were influenced by the European Central Bank's (ECB) decision to cut interest rates to record low levels and as investors forecasted strengthening oil demand in Europe. Brent rebounded from a three-week low and WTI crude from a two-week low reached instantly after the ECB announcement.

E.ON, ENEL to close more plants because of European power crisis

Two of Europe's major power companies, E.ON and Enel, declared on Wednesday they intend to close more plants and reduce costs, joining competitors in warning that the industry crisis will influence profits in the years to come.
