Turkey more than quadruples thermal coal import tax for several nations

Exergy targets extra 200MW geothermal by 2017 in Turkey

The Turkish division of Italian producer in the geothermal sector, Exergy, targets to add 100 megawatts (MW) of geothermal power by the end of this year and with an extra 100 MW by 2017, declared Matteo Quaia, deputy general manager of Exergy Turkey.

Daily: European prompt power prices gain ground on declining wind output, lower thermal availability

Crude oil prices rebounded about 3 percent on Thursday, with U.S. crude increasing above the $40 per barrel mark on short covering and after a slight inventory decline at the delivery hub for U.S. crude futures. Brent crude boosted $1.19, or 2.8 percent, to settle at $44.29 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude climbed $1.10, or 2.7 percent, to close at $41.93 per barrel.

Nordic Investment Bank grants funding for geothermal power plant in Iceland

Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) and electricity producer Landsvirkjun signed a USD 50 million long-term loan agreement without a guarantee of collection for the construction of the Theistareykir geothermal power plant in northeast Iceland.
