EDF Extend life of Hunterston B nuclear power plant until 2023

Hunterston B nuclear power plant has been operating since 1976, and has a combined capacity of 890,000kW. It had been scheduled to close in 2016, but yesterday, power firm EDF Energy has announced that the operating life of Hunterston B nuclear power station in Ayrshire has been extended by seven years.

China to become world’s largest generator of nuclear power by 2020

Stephen Wilson, the Rio Tinto Energy general manager of markets and industry analysis, said that currently China is the ninth largest nuclear energy producer and that by 2020 it is likely to become the world’s largest generator of nuclear power.
