China’s on grid solar capacity to triple by the end of 2013
According to China’s National Energy Administration (NEA), total grid-connected solar capacity in China could triple to 10 GW by the end of the year. The total grid installed generation capacity from all sources is predicted to reach 1,235GW by the end of this year, representing a 200% rise, in comparison to a year before.

Serbia: construction works started on Serbian section of South Stream
Construction works began last week on the Serbian leg of Gazprom's South Stream gas pipeline. The segment under construction will have the capacity to carry 40.5 billion cubic meters per year and it will have about 4500 kilometers across Serbia, having a total cost of about 2 billion euros.

Shale gas in Europe
Unconventional gas is rapidly growing in importance in Europe, with shale gas at the forefront. It is expected that between now and 2035 shale gas could account for about 45% of European gas production, which is the equivalent of 10% of total demand.

French Total eyes to develop a LNG facility in Cyprus
The Cyprus government and the French energy giant Total signed an agreement envisaging the development of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant at Vasilikos, Limassol, in Cyprus, with the deal certainly boosting morale in Cyprus and optimism about the potential of natural gas to save the national economy.

Top five biggest offshore wind farms in the world
Total offshore wind capacity in Europe stands now at 6,040 MW in 58 wind farms across 10 countries, up from 4,336 MW in June 2012. However, UK remains the world leader in terms of offshore wind capacity.
