The British government unveiled it was opening up the bidding process for shale gas exploration in the country under the so-called "14th onshore licensing round". Tullow Oil PLC unveiled it had stopped up and quitted its Lupus exploration well in the Norwegian North Sea blaming its failure to find any hydrocarbons. The well is 35km south-east of the Oseberg Sor Field and 110km west of the island of Sotra in the North Sea.
