Crude oil prices increased slightly on Friday, amid extended risks to crude supply due to escalating geopolitical tensions between Ukraine and Russia. Thus, Brent oil rose by 0.8% to $90.03 a barrel and WTI crude edged 0.2% higher at $86.82 a barrel.

Crude oil prices were bearish on Wednesday, pressured by an increase in US commercial crude stocks. Furthermore, concerns over the number of Covid-19 infections which limits global consumption also weighed on prices. As such, Brent oil lost 1.9% to close at $65.32 a barrel and WTI crude fell by 2.1% to $61.35 a barrel.

Oil crude futures retreated on Tuesday, influenced by expectations of a rise in US crude inventories. Furthermore, stronger dollar coupled with a possible increase in Libya oil production also pressured the prices. Hence, Brent crude fell by 1.1%, or $0.72 to settle at $67.52 a barrel. At the same time, US WTI crude lost 1.6% or $1.04, to end at $64.01 a barrel.

Oil prices were marked by monotonous trading on Thursday, due to the approaching Christmas weekend. Brent crude and WTI oil ended rather flat at $51.29 and $48.23 a barrel respectively.
