SunEdison keeps 127 MW of solar power regardless of revenue loss

The total revenue published by SunEdison for the fourth quarter of 2013 attained $551.2 million, or a decline of 8% year-over-year, according to Reuters. The decrease in profits of the semiconductor and solar technology company is primarily attributable to the fact that the firm had chosen to retain 127 megawatts of solar projects rather than to vend them.

A2SEA to build Germany’s largest offshore wind farm

A2SEA, the world leader in offshore wind installation, has won a contract from DONG Energy to install 97 Siemens turbines of 6MW each, at a total capacity of 582MW. Once finished, Gode Wind 1 and 2 will be the major adjacent offshore wind farm in Germany.

USA: Coal production at lowest level in 20 years

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), coal production in the USA plunged to its lowest level in 20 years, totaling 996 million short tons at the end of 2013, or a 2% decrease compared to 2012 levels. It is the first time in 20 years that annual coal production was below 1 billion short tons.

Northern Ireland's first large-scale solar farm has obtained the go ahead

The largest solar farm in Northern Ireland has been given the go-ahead by the Government. The 27-acre solar farm located in Tullynaskeagh Road, Downpatrick will be connected to the nearby NIE sub-station and national grid, representing the first approval for such a large-scale solar farm in Northern Ireland. The solar project will have a total capacity of 5.1MW, capable of generating electricity to power more than 1,500 homes.
