NRDC: Biomass emits more carbon pollution than burning coal or natural gas

A new study released today by US-based environmental organization the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) finds that much of the biomass – such as that from forests –used in the UK could be generating higher emissions than coal and natural gas for decades.

Egypt inks natural gas cooperation contract with Cyprus

Energy Minister George Lakkotrypis and the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek el Mola, signed today a deal regarding the transfer of natural gas via pipeline from Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone to Egypt through a direct undersea pipeline. This agreement is described as an essential as it is expected to place Cyprus in a competitive regional gas export infrastructure and help the island to cooperate with key players in the region such as Egypt.

PGNiG will supply to Ukrainian industrial market

Polish state-run oil and gas conglomerate PGNiG declared on August 4 it had started supplying to ERU Trading, the biggest privately-owned energy trader in Ukraine and a unit of Energy Resources of Ukraine. Deliveries will go to provide natural gas to Ukrainian industrial users.

First fracked gas could enter the British market in 2017
