Daily energy Overview, Wednesday, June 1, 2011

Crude oil futures increased on Tuesday on the closure of a pipeline transporting crude from Canada to US and on dollar decrease on renewed hopes for a debt bailout plan for Greece. NYMEX crude for July delivery settled at 102.70 dollars a barrel, up 2.11 dollars, while ICE Brent crude increased by 2.05 to 116.73 dollars a barrel, after a trading range between 114.50 and 116.73 dollars.

Gazprom may join the TAPI project

Pakistan offers Russian energy giant, Gazprom the opportunity to take part to the two multi-billion dollar gas pipeline projects, the Iran-Pakistan (TP) and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) project, aimed to transport natural gas from Central Asian states to India and Pakistan.

First LNG pipeline between Russia and Germany will be completed by the end of the year.

BP to pay $25 million penalty following the Alaska oil spill

BP has to pay a $25 million penalty fee and spend other $60 million for improvement measures following the spill of more than 5,000 barrels of crude oil from the company's pipelines in Alaska in 2006, declared on Tuesday the US Department of Justice (DoJ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Egypt pipeline blast cuts gas supplies to Jordan and Israel

Israeli officials announced that a pipeline that transports natural gas from Egypt to Israel and Jordan exploded on Wednesday morning, following a gun attack in the north Sinai area of Egypt.
