Rosneft to strike a $2.5 billion Arctic deal with Statoil

Gazprom and Total to develop arctic reserves

Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Christophe de Margerie, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Total met on Friday in Saint Petersburg to discuss the next step in the development of Shtokman natural gas field in the arctic waters on the Russian continent shelf, which is considered by Gazprom to be a strategically important move.

TNK-BP to invest $10bn in Arctic oil fields

Russian oil company TNK-BP, 50 % owned by BP, will invest up to $10 billion in Arctic oil field development and construction of a pipeline, enabling thus the export of its reserves to Chinese markets by 2016.
