Mitsubishi to develop a more energy-efficient liquefied natural gas ship until 2014

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. Company received an order from Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, a shipping company, to build a ship with a steam turbine generator that has 15 percent better fuel efficiency as compared to the traditional steam systems.

BP to buy a $7.2 billion stake in India’s Reliance Industries

The British oil giant BP declared on Monday that it is interested in buying a stake in oil and gas blocks into India’s Reliance Industries. The total amount of the transaction is estimated to around $7.2 billion and with this acquisition BP hopes to gain a significant position in the Asian country after the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

New EU package adopted on the sustainability criteria of biofuels

The European Commission adopted two Communications and a Decision June 10, encouraging industries, governments and NGOs to set up certification schemes on the sustainability criteria of biofuels, including the imported ones in the EU, as to aid reach the EU target in a sustainable way, the one of getting 20% of renewable energy from total energy consumption.
