British Gas to produce green gas from food waste

UK’s major energy provider, British Gas and Bio Group, a renewable energy developer launched a plan to build a power plant of £5 million ($8.1 million) which will convert commercial food waste into renewable gas, enough to cover yearly energy demand of up to 1000 households.

China Industrial Waste Management Company increased its profit in Q2 2011

The largest industrial solid waste recycling and environmental protection engineering company announced a double increase in profit in the second quarter of 2011 from 4.9 million dollars to 8.3 million dollars for the same period last year. Meanwhile, gross profit rose by 41.2 percent to 4.3 million dollars from 3.1 million dollars in the same period in the previous year.

Unilever starts the construction of a Paques bio-digester at its Ben & Jerry’factory.

A new bio-digester will be built at Ben and Jerry’s factory in Hellendoorn, the Netherlands, which will generate electricity from waste products such as cream, milk, syrup and pieces of fruits.
