Daily – oil up on EU deal to ban Iranian oil imports

U.S. and Brent crude oil futures increased on Monday as an agreement among EU states to forbid the imports of Iranian oil by July 1 prompted renewed threats by Iran to close the main Strait of Hormuz oil shipping artery. NYMEX crude for March delivery traded at 99.58 dollars a barrel, gaining 1.25 dollars after a trading range between 97.40 and 100.24 dollars. ICE Brent crude for March delivery traded at 110.58 dollars per barrel, up 72 cents after a trading range from 109.23 to 111.36 dollars.
