Italian energy group Eni and U.S. energy major Chevron said on Sunday they had made a new gas discovery in an Egyptian offshore field in the Eastern Mediterranean sea.

Daily (13.01.2023): Oil prices rose by over 1% on Thursday amid positive US key figures on inflation, demand optimism
Crude oil prices continued to gain ground on Thursday, driven by hopes of rising demand in China and the prospect of softening inflationary pressures. Figures showing U.S consumer prices unexpectedly fell in December lent further support. Hence, Brent crude rose by $1.36, or 1.7%, to settle at $84.03 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude settled at $78.39 a barrel, gaining 98 cents, or 1.3% day-on-day.

Eni's Vaar Energi makes Arctic gas discovery
Norway's Vaar Energi, majority owned by Italy's Eni, said on Friday it had made a gas discovery near the Goliat field in the Arctic Barents Sea, supporting the group's long-term plans to expand in the area.

Energy ministers fail to agree on EU gas price cap, aim for deal on 19 December
EU energy ministers failed to reach agreement on Tuesday (13 December) on a new cap to limit excessive gas prices, further delaying other emergency measures to tackle the energy crisis, like speeding up the rollout of renewables and strengthening solidarity between EU countries.
