Britain: SSE penalized for slow energy customer links

Ofgem: five of the six electricity distributors have to do more to cut costs for consumers

Energy regulator Ofgem has required to five of its six electricity distributors, including SSE and Scottish Power, to do more to cut costs for consumers. The six distribution companies presented their investment plans, but the only plan approved was those of Western Power Distribution’s( WPD), which customers will see a 11.30 pounds cut in their bills from April 2015.

The EIB has granted Spain a €475m loan for power grid upgrade

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted to Spain’s Gas Natural Fenosa a 475 million euro loan for upgrading its power grid. The loan have the objective to support utility firm Gas Natural Fenosa’s four-year programme of investment in upgrading and expanding the overhead distribution network, laying underground cables and building substations.

AcegasAps, Italgas to create a gas distribution JV in northern Italy

The Italian gas distributors AcegasAps and Italgas (Snam group) inked a framework agreement today for the establishment of a joint venture to manage the gas distribution activities in the territories of Padua, Pordenone, Trieste and Gorizia, in northeastern Italy.
