Eskom asks for 45% power tariff hike over next 3 years (South Africa)

South African state-run power utility Eskom has submitted a request to the domestic regulator NERSA (National Energy Regulator of South Africa) for a 45% electricity price hike spread over the next three years. Public hearings on Eskom’s demand for an initial 15% electricity tariff increase are expected to start later in January 2019.

Ørsted to rethink Taiwanese offshore wind plans after missing 2018 deadline

Danish offshore wind major Ørsted A/S will pause and review its plans for investments in Taiwan as it has been unable to secure a key permit for 900 MW of offshore wind projects in time to get the 2018 feed-in tariff (FiT).

Daily (04.12.2018): Brent crude hiked by 5.1% on Monday, as US-China trade war tensions eased

Oil prices jumped on Monday, after Qatar decided to quit the OPEC club in January 2019. Furthermore, US-China trade tensions eased as no additional tariffs will be imposed during a period of 90-days. Expectations for OPEC supply reduction also stimulated prices. Brent crude price increased by 5.1% to $61.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, WTI crude gained 4% to $52.95 a barrel.

French gas tariffs to fall by 2.4 pct from Dec. 1

France’s CRE energy market regulator on Friday recommended a 2.4 percent drop in regulated gas tariffs, paid by around 4.6 million residential customers in France to Engie, as from Dec. 1.
