Daily: French spot power prices fell on higher nuclear availability

Crude oil prices posted a modest increase on Thursday on preliminary U.S. data indicating weekly jobless claims at a near 15-year low, showing signs of further strength in the world’s largest economy. WTI crude rose 8 cents to close at $44.53 a barrel, rebounding from its session low of $43.58. Brent crude increased 66 cents to settle at $49.13 a barrel, off its session peak of $49.24.
