Daily (13.08.2018): Oil prices rose on Friday, but posted weekly declines due to global trade disputes

Oil crude prices surged on Friday, on predictions of lower supply following U.S. sanctions against Iran. Brent crude closed 1% higher at $72.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, WTI crude soared by 1.2% to end at 67.63% a barrel, posting nevertheless a 1.2% decline week-on-week, on global trade disputes that might slow economic growth and reduce demand for energy.

Gas transmission via Nord Stream Pipeline has resumed

All planned maintenance works on the Nord Stream twin gas pipelines have been successfully concluded within the scheduled time frame. Gas transmission resumed today and the full capacity of both pipelines is now available again.

Investment in new nuclear declines to five-year low

Global energy investment fell for the third consecutive year in 2017, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). Investment in nuclear power declined by nearly 45% last year to USD17 billion. Although spending on new reactors reached the lowest level in five years, investment on upgrades of existing units increased.

Italian Snam forms new joint venture for Albania's gas pipelines
