Daily: Brent slips on Iran nuclear negotiations
Brent crude oil futures dropped nearly by two percent on Thursday, registering a third consecutive day of losses on stronger dollar and talks between Iran and the West over Tehran’s controversial nuclear program which added pressure to prices. Brent dipped $1.78, or 1.7 percent, to settle at $103.46 a barrel, losing $2 to trade as low as $103.24, its lowest level since July 2. Meanwhile, U.S. oil settled 60 cents lower at $94.20 a barrel after registering its biggest one-day percent gain in more than one month in the previous session when figures showed a larger-than-expected draw from gasoline stocks.

EDF’s sales up 6.9% in the nine months of 2013
French utility Electricite de France (EDF), the largest electricity generator in Europe and the biggest producer of nuclear power worldwide, registered an increase of 6.9 percent in its nine-month sales amid power prices increases.

Nuclear outlook in the UK
Currently, the UK has 16 reactors generating on average about 19% of its electricity and all but one of these will be retired by 2023.The country has a number of reactors which are currently reaching the end of their working life, and it is now unclear how they will be replaced.

Switzerland to close its Muehleberg nuclear plant by 2019
Following the March 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster, the Swiss government has decided to phase out nuclear power as an energy source for electricity generation and to look more towards energy efficiency and renewables.

Sweden prefers renewables to nuclear
Recently Sweden's energy minister, Anna-Karin Hatt, has announced that the government will not subsidize new nuclear power plants, favoring renewable investments. Electricity production in Sweden is dominated by nuclear power and renewables, which currently make about equal contributions to energy production- about 40%.
