Crude oil prices climbed to fresh multi-year highs on Tuesday amid persistent global supply squeeze, while falling temperatures in China revived concerns over whether the world's biggest energy consumer can meet domestic heating needs. Hence, Brent crude rose by 0.9% to settle at $ 85.08 a barrel, the highest level since October 2018. U.S. WTI crude added 52 cents to settle at $82.96 a barrel, posting a fresh seven-year high.

Crude oil prices climbed to hit multi-year highs on Thursday after Saudi Arabia, one of the main crude oil producers in the world, rejected to follow the policy of OPEC+ to increase their output for price controls. Additionally, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said surging natural gas prices could boost demand for oil among power generators. Hence, Brent crude rose by 1% to settle at $84.00 a barrel, the highest level since October 2018. U.S. WTI crude increased by 1% to close at $81.31 a barrel, hitting a seven-year record high.

Last week, Swiss company Climeworks launched Orca, the world’s largest direct air capture and storage plant that permanently removes CO2 from the air. The plant is located in proximity to the Hellisheidi geothermal power plant by ON Power near Reykjavik, Iceland.
