UK to withdraw the ban on shale- gas exploration
Ed Davey, Energy Secretary, has announced that exploration works could now continue in the county, allowing Cuadrilla Resources Ltd. to resume operations in Lancashire, which was halted in 2011 when the test-drilling caused two minor earthquakes in northwest England.

UK can proceed with the construction of the new nuclear power station
The European Commission has approved the construction and operation of the new nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point in Sommerset, South England, has announced EDF Energy. Last month the commission presented its judgment to the UK Government, coming to the conclusion that the proposed project of the nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point accomplishes the purposes of the Euratom Treaty by contributing to develop a sustainable national energy mix.

UK: Fuel poverty could hit about 8.9 million people in 2016
According to a new report released by the UK government, between 7.8 and 8.9 million people in England will be living in fuel poverty by 2016-the year by which the previous government had promised to eradicate the problem.
