Nova Innovation has marked a new era in tidal energy

The Edinburgh-based company Nova Innovation has announced it has installed the first offshore tidal turbines in the world which are already delivering electricity to the grid. The company has installed the fully operational array of tidal power turbines in the Bluemull Sound in the north of Shetland, where the North Sea encounters the Atlantic. This project marks a big step forward in using tidal energy as a reliable source of renewable power. Once finished it will supply enough electricity for about 300 households.

Work begins on 385 MW Baltic Sea wind farm

Germany-based utility company E.ON and Norwegian oil and gas firm Statoil have started on Thursday the construction of the 385 MW Arkona offshore wind project, a new wind farm situated 35 kilometers northeast of the island of Rugen in the German Baltic Sea.

Britain gives the consent for world’s largest wind firm Hornsea Two

British government gave the go ahead for plans to expand an offshore wind farm project off the Yorkshire coast which could ultimately have more than 600 turbines spread across an area of the North Sea more than twice the size of London.

Germany: Merkur offshore wind project secures EUR 1.6bn from investors and banks
