Sharara oil field in Lybia, which had a production of 270,000 barrels a day (bpd), is gradually closing after the closure of a control room in the northern city of Zawiya, as stated by an engineer at the field late on Sunday.

Russia: Oil production was cut more than required in OPEC agreement
Russia’s Energy Ministry announced on Wednesday that the country’s oil production was 300,790 barrels per day (bpd) on the 1st of May, which is below the level registered in October and far less than requested under the OPEC agreement.

Norway doubles Barents Sea oil and gas resource estimates
Norway’s oil regulator, Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD), announced new forecasts on Tuesday, concerning the unfound oil and gas resources in the Arctic Barents Sea area, doubling them at approximately 17.6 billion barrels.

IEA report: Oil demand likely to reduce in 2017, non-OPEC countries seen rising production
The demand for oil is anticipated to decrease from 1.6 million barrels a day in 2016 to 1.4 million barrels a day in 2017 which will add more issues for the producers while they could try to increase prices, as indicated in the International Energy Agency report published earlier this week, based on the early 1st quarter indicators showing slowdowns in Japan, Germany, Korea and India in January 2017.
