Daily (31.10.2017): Higher gas consumption in the UK boosted prompt prices on Monday

Brent oil price rose on predictions that OPEC-led output reductions would be prolonged beyond March even though higher Iraqi exports put a cap on prices. Brent crude futures increased by 46 cents, or 0.8 percent, to settle at $60.90 per barrel, its highest level since July 2015. Meanwhile, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures surged 0.5% to $54.15 a barrel.

Daily (17.08.2017): Oil prices fell more than 1% on Wednesday amid gasoline inventories decline

Oil prices were volatile on Wednesday, even though U.S. crude inventories dropped for a 7-th consecutive week to their lowest level since January 2016, according to latest EIA data. However, gasoline inventories did not decline as expected, and the data also showed that U.S. domestic crude output rose adding to global oversupply. On the demand side, analysts see a gradual slowdown in fuel consumption growth.

Global gas demand expected to ascend by 1.6% annually

As reported by the International Energy Agency (IEA), global gas is predicted to rise 1.6% every year, for the next five years, with consumption rising to almost 4,000 billion cubic meters (bcm) by 2022.

French electricity demand boosted in May 2017 by public transport sector

On Monday, French grid network operator RTE announced in a monthly report about a 0.9% increase in electricity consumption in May, compared with the same period a year ago. The main factors were growing power consumption in the public transport sector and high cooling demand because of warmer weather.
