Crude oil prices added ground on Tuesday, after data showed a much larger-than-expected fall in the U.S. crude stocks. Meanwhile, weaker demand forecasts and the full restart of Libya’s largest oil field reduced gains. Against that backdrop, Brent crude traded 0.9% higher at $63.83 a barrel, while WTI futures closed 1% up, at $56.77 a barrel.

Daily (15.07.2019): NBP spot surged by 4.7% on Friday, due to rising gas-for-power demand ahead of an expected 3-day hot spell

Crude oil prices slightly rose on Friday, after a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico caused disruptions in the local production, while tensions between Iran and the West continued to mount. Consequently, Brent crude traded 0.3% higher at $66.72 a barrel. However, forecasts for a global oil supply glut from the International Energy Agency and OPEC limited the gains, with WTI futures remaining almost flat at $60.21 a barrel.

Calmer U.S equity markets led to a decline in oil prices on Wednesday. Brent crude ended 32 cents, or 0.5%, down at $61.82 a barrel. Meanwhile, WTI futures lost $0.14, or 0.3%, to close at $53.76 a barrel.

Crude oil prices lost ground on Monday, as China-US trade negotiations escalated further, and China claims to impose higher tariffs on a range of U.S. goods. Investors fear that the trade war can intesify and cause disturbances in global economy. As a result, Brent crude edged 0.6% lower to $70.23 a barrel, while WTI futures traded 1% lower at $61.04 a barrel.

Daily (02.05.2019): The German spot power price soared by 49% on Wednesday, on forecasts for cold weather and low wind output

Oil prices declined on Wednesday, after EIA data showed a new record level of oil production since September 2017 and a surge in the crude inventories in the U.S. Brent crude lost 0.9% to trade at $72.18 a barrel, while WTI futures edged 0.5% lower at $.63.60 a barrel. Nevertheless, the losses were limited by the prospect of a weaker oil supply due to increasing unrest in Venezuela and the end of U.S. sanction waivers on countries importing Iranian oil.
