20 Fossil Fuel Companies Generate One Third Of All Global Emissions

New data compiled by the United States-based Climate Accountability Institute and revealed by the Guardian confirms what many already know: at the core of the climate crisis is the fossil fuel industry. The crucial finding from the analysis is that 20 oil, gas and coal companies can be directly linked to over one third of all energy industry greenhouse gases in modern history. Despite knowing the destruction and dangers their activities pose to our planet and people, fossil fuel companies have been driving climate change and hold the key to avoiding impending disaster. What this points to is the urgent need for divestment, in spite of skepticism amongst some leaders.

EIB to provide 110 mln euro loan to BEH for Greece-Bulgaria gas link construction

The European Investment Bank (EIB) said on Thursday that it will provide a 110 million euro ($121 million) loan to state-owned Bulgarian Energy Holding to fund part of the Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (ICGB) project, which will also help establish a link with the Trans Adriatic Gas Pipeline (TAP).

Denmark may slow launch of Nord Stream 2 - Financial Times

Denmark's permit for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline must be obtained within the next few weeks, otherwise, the operator Nord Stream AG will simply not be able to complete the pipeline within a specified time period, British newspaper Financial Times has reported, referring to a senior official linked to Nord Stream 2.

Developers of Viking Link award EUR 1.1bn worth of contracts

The developers of the 1,400-MW Viking Link interconnector between Denmark and the UK today announced they will award contracts worth a total of EUR 1.1 billion (USD 1.23bn) for the supply of cables and converter stations as part of the project.
