UK regulator Ofgem confirms need for huge Eastern HVDC link

Prysmian and Siemens Energy win UK-Germany power link contract
The NeuConnect consortium has awarded contracts worth £1.5bn ($1.95bn) to Prysmian Group and Siemens Energy to deliver cabling works and converter stations for the first subsea power link between the UK and Germany.

EU to invest Eur1 billion in Green Deal cross-border energy infrastructure
EU member states have agreed to invest Eur1.037 billion ($1.16 billion) in cross-border energy infrastructure projects, with two-thirds of funds under the Connecting Europe Facility allocated to a subsea electricity interconnector to Cyprus, the Commission said Jan. 26.

Final piece of Nord Stream 2 in place
The last section of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline has been welded into place, its operator said on Monday, meaning the two long stretches of the pipe can now be joined to complete the Baltic subsea link.
