Novatek in talks with Germany and other EU countries

Novatek OAO, Russia's largest independent gas producer is in talks to enlarge its gas trading operations in Germany and other European countries, becoming the first Russian company to face Gazprom’s export monopoly. Novatek has already signed a contract with German utility EnBW to provide with 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year from October 2012 for a 10 years period.

Qatargas increases LNG supplies to Japan

Qatargas, the largest producer of natural gas in the world with a production capacity of 42 million tonnes per year of LNG, announced that it has augmented its LNG supplies to Japan by 11 tonnes from the original 9 million tonnes in comparison to the autumn 2011, as a result of the nuclear disaster last year, when Japan had to shut down its entire nuclear energy sector, from which it was dependent for 30%.

Daily: Nordic power prices down on higher nuclear power output

Nordic spot electricity prices decreased on Friday, on prospects of lower consumption and higher nuclear power output. The prices for the day-ahead for Friday delivery eased to 31.4 euro per MWh from 32.9 euro on Thursday. Nordic forward power prices bounced on Thursday on good weather forecasts in a hydro-dependent region.

Russia’s Novatek signed long-term gas contract with Germany’s E.On

Russia's largest independent gas producer Novatek announced it has signed a $22.04 billion contract with E.ON Russia to supply gas to the German company’s power plants in Russia until the end of 2027.

UK: Element Power to export energy from Ireland to the UK
