Statoil discloses the size of North Sea oil discovery

Acording to the Statoil estimations, the Aldous and Avaldsnes oil discoveries in the North Sea, could be the country’s largest oil discoveries since the 1980s, which may hold 500 million to 1.2 billion barrels of recoverable oil.

Statoil makes new discovery near Oseberg

Norway’s Statoil ASA has discovered oil and condensate in the North Sea’s Krafla West prospect. Located around 26 kilometers south-west of the producing Oseberg South find, the discovery well encountered hydrocarbons in two columns with a total thickness of 300 meters.

Statoil to explore deepwater prospect in Gulf of Mexico

The Norwegian oil firm said on Wednesday that it is buying a stake in a deepwater prospect, called Kakuna in the Gulf of Mexico, operated by Nexen, a global energy leader based in Canada.
