Vestas to build its first V100 turbines in Italy

Vestas will build its first project consisting of 11 units of the V100 wind turbine in Tuscany, for the Santa Luce Wind Power Plant. The project is the first on Italian soil to use the V100 and includes delivery, transportation, installation and commissioning of turbines.

UK can proceed with the construction of the new nuclear power station

The European Commission has approved the construction and operation of the new nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point in Sommerset, South England, has announced EDF Energy. Last month the commission presented its judgment to the UK Government, coming to the conclusion that the proposed project of the nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point accomplishes the purposes of the Euratom Treaty by contributing to develop a sustainable national energy mix.

AWEA: U.S. wind power hits 50 GW milestone

Wind power in U.S. has reached 50GW of electric generation capacity, enough to power 13 million homes and the equivalent of 44 coal-fired power plants or 11 nuclear plants, according to the American Wind Energy Association. This represents five times the country's 10 GW cumulative installed capacity in 2006 and twice of what it was installed in 2008.

Poland’s major coal producer postponed new power plant project

The EU’s first hard coal producer, Kompania Weglowa, has delayed the construction of its coal-fired power plant in 2020, with two years of delay. The 1000 MW power plant will cost about 5 billion Zloty (1.5 Billion dollars), and will burn between 2.5 and 3.5 million tons per year of hard coal producing roughly 5-7 TWh per year.

Bulgaria to build a new nuclear unit by 2022

Bulgarian government has decided to build a new unit at the nuclear power plant in the Danube town of Kozloduy, by installing a 1000 MW reactor, produced by Russian contractor Atomstroyexport, at the nuclear plant in Kozloduy.
