Vattenfall will construct 3.6 GW of offshore wind in UK

Sweden’s Vattenfall has begun plans for one of the biggest offshore wind farms in the North Sea. Norfolk Vanguard and bordering Norfolk Boreas will each have a capacity of 1.8 gigawatts. In the meantime, a new British study expects to reduce the cost of offshore wind to 12.8 cents, which would still lead to a quarter more expensive electricity than in Germany in spite of the better or equal conditions in the UK.

Siemens wins $81 million wind turbine agreement for Bosnian utility

Bosnia's power utility Elektroprivreda HZHB (EPHZHB) declared on Friday it had awarded a 72 million euro ($81 million) agreement to German industrial group Siemens to provide wind turbines for its future 44 megawatt (MW) wind farm.

China wasted a total of 33.9 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of wind power in 2015 due to low utilization efficiency, the National Energy Administration (NEA) said, the equivalent of 20% of total generated wind power.

British utility SSE vends stake in Clyde wind park for $510 million

British utility SSE Plc declared it would vend a 49.9 percent stake in a flagship wind park in South Lanarkshire to Greencoat UK Wind Plc and GMPF & LPFA Infrastructure LLP (GLIL) for 355 million pounds ($510 million).
