The preparatory works for the construction of Hincley C nuclear power plant for more than 20 years were approved to begin, after the West Somerset District Council voted in favor of the application, despite strong protests from opponents fearing that it will destroy the coastline.

U.S. crude oil futures went up on Thursday in a choppy trading driving up by encouraging job data and uncertainty over the debt in the USA. U.S. crude for September delivery settled at 97.44 dollars a barrel, after a trading range between 96.51 and 98.01 dollars.

Eni to buy Vanttenfall’s Belgian operations
The Italian energy company, Eni has signed an agreement to buy Vattenfall's Belgian operations for about 157 million euros on an enterprise value basis.

U.S. crude oil futures decreased in the post-settlement trading on Tuesday on industry data indicating an increase of 4.0 million barrels in domestic crude stocks last week against forecasts for a decrease. By 20:34 GMT, NYMEX crude for September delivery settled at 99.10 dollars a barrel, losing 10 cents.
