Largest Indian PV plant to get 48 million dollars loan

The largest Indian solar PV power plant, with a total capacity of 40 MW, received a long-term loan from the Asian Development Bank worth 48 million dollars. The Dahanu solar power plant will be built in the western state of Rajasthan, and it is planned to be completed by the second quarter of 2012.

Global energy demand to grow by 53% by 2035

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration report, energy consumption globally will rise by 53% between 2008 and 2035, with China and India expected to lead the growth. Even though renewable energy is likely to be the fastest growing primary energy source over the next 25 years, fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas will still be the main energy source. China’s energy consumption is expected to be 68% higher than U.S. energy demand.

Global nuclear energy capacity to rise 70% by 2030

Despite dented nuclear outlook in Germany and Japan following the Fukushima’s disaster, global nuclear power capacity will increase by almost 70% in the next 20 years, being mainly driven by demand in China, India, Korea and the United Kingdom, according to the last projections of the World Nuclear Association.

First Solar inked important agreement for 100MW modules supply

First Solar has inked an important agreement with Reliance Power and Jaisalmer, Indian solar project. Under the new agreement, First Solar will deliver 40 MW of thin film solar modules to Reliance Power by the end of the current year, while the rest 60 MW in 2012.
