Duke Energy asks for a 17 % increase on North Caroline households

Duke Energy Corp. addressed a request to the North Carolina regulators asking to increase power prices for households by 17%, and to 11.5 % for its allowed rate of return on shareholder, a change that would add around 19 dollars to the monthly power bills. This move will increase company’s revenue by 646 million dollars.

America’s wind industry ICREASED by 15% in 2010

America’s wind power increased by 15% in 2010 with 5,116 MW new installed capacity last year totaling 40,181 MW, enough to supply electricity to more than 10 million American households. The annual report submitted by American Wind Energy Association shows a significant increase in wind power by 35% since 2007 underscoring the role of this industry in the country’s economy following natural gas as basic energy generation source.

According to the recent research performed by UK-based price comparison and switching website, nearly 27% of households have been billed incorrectly by their energy company in the last two years, with over 14% of households billed wrong more than once.
