Germany seeks to link all wind parks in North Sea
The German government said on Monday that it wants to set up a new power line network to connect its own offshore wind parks with those of its North Sea neighbours in order to eliminate bottlenecks in the European energy market. Governments in northwestern Europe are hoping that wind power at sea will provide a large share of their future clean energy needs.

Daily (21.02.2023): European spot power prices surged on Monday as low wind output and forecasts of colder weather boosted demand
Oil prices rebounded on Monday as attention shifted back to the fundamentals of supply and demand, with Russia's output expected to decline and China's reopening boosting slightly the demand. As a result, Brent crude oil gained 1.3% day-on-day to settle at $84.07 a barrel.

Spanish power companies to denounce ‘discriminatory’ windfall tax
The multi-billion-euro windfall tax for energy firms to offset the toll of inflation on vulnerable consumers approved last year by Madrid will be denounced by the association of large Spanish power companies (Aelec) before the European Commission.
