Daily (30.09.2020): Oil prices dropped over 3% on Tuesday amid lingering demand concerns

Crude oil futures retreated on Tuesday, sending global benchmark crude prices to their lowest settlement in two weeks amid gloomy outlook for fuel demand as the world is grappling with a new wave of coronavirus infections. Hence, Brent crude for November delivery shed by $1.40, or 3.3%, to settle at $41.03 a barrel. At the same time, U.S. WTI crude fell by $1.31, or 3.2%, to end at $39.29 per barrel.

Daily (21.09.2020): German spot power price fell by more than 13% on stronger wind output

A slide in oil prices was noticed on Friday, as worries about the increasing number of coronavirus infections across the world stalled oil demand. Furthermore, a potential return of oil output from Libya weighed on the oil market. However, a new tropical storm in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico limited losses. Hence, Brent crude slipped by 0.4% to $43.15 a barrel. At the same time, the American WTI dropped by 0.3% to $41.11 a barrel.

Nuclear essential to hydrogen future

Untapped options for clean hydrogen - including the use of advanced modular reactors - can put the world back on the pathway to meeting the Paris climate goals, according to a new report from energy research and consultancy firm LucidCatalyst. The report says the clean energy transition from oil to hydrogen-based fuels could be achieved with a global investment of USD17 trillion, spent over 30 years from 2020 to 2050.

First European reactor loads EnCore accident tolerant fuel

Lead test assemblies of EnCore accident tolerant fuel (ATF) have been installed in Engie Electrabel's Doel unit 4 in Belgium, Westinghouse Electric Company and ENUSA Industrias Avanzadas (ENUSA) have announced. Doel 4 is the second commercial nuclear power plant in the world, and the first in Europe, into which EnCore assemblies have been installed.
