UK received LNG from Qatar
UK has received a liquefied natural gas shipment from Qatar, because of dwindling gas supplies due to the unseasonably severe March weather which continues to put increasing demands on the National Grid. Two more shipments from Qatar are due in the coming week.

Daily: UK gas increases to record levels on pipeline halting
Brent crude oil futures increased on Friday in choppy trading on uncertainty about the financial turmoil in Cyprus which hit markets and on the back on weaker dollar which added support. Meanwhile, Brent May crude boosted 19 cents, or 0.18 percent, to settle at $107.66 a barrel, having traded from $106.90 to $107.96, however registering a weekly loss of $2.16, or 1.9 percent.

UK: Shale gas could cut reliance on gas imports and reduce emissions
The new shale gas allowance will help the UK to cut its reliance on imported gas making the nation energy independent and helping also to reduce gas emissions. According to some studies, shale gas is the only way to counterbalance the effects of the growing reliance on imports.

EDF gets green light for the construction of Hinkley Point C nuclear reactor
The French energy major EDF got green light from UK’s energy secretary on Tuesday to build the nation’s first new nuclear power station at in Somerset in almost 20 years.
