Swiss government rejects post-2050 fossil fuel ban
The government suggested toning down the demands made in an environmentalists' petition for referendum, the so-called glacier initiative. The initiative calls for a ban on marketing fossil fuels in the country after 2050 to be enshrined in Switzerland's constitution, and for carbon storage counting towards Switzerland's climate target to be restricted to its domestic territory.

Swiss-based MET Group acquires 42 MW wind park in Bulgaria
Switzerland-headquartered energy company MET Group said on Wednesday it acquired a 42 MW wind park in Bulgaria, near the town of Kavarna, from Enel Green Power, the renewable energy arm of Italy's Enel Group.

Serbia's NIS, Swiss-based MET join forces in wind farm project
Switzerland-based MET Group said on Thursday its wholly-owned subsidiary MET Renewables and Serbian oil and gas group NIS have set up a joint venture for the construction of a 102 MW wind farm in northern Serbia.
