Tullow Oil quits its Lupus exploration well in Norway

Tullow Oil PLC unveiled it had stopped up and quitted its Lupus exploration well in the Norwegian North Sea blaming its failure to find any hydrocarbons. The well is 35km south-east of the Oseberg Sor Field and 110km west of the island of Sotra in the North Sea.

Eni to launch natural gas production in western Siberia

The Italian energy giant, Eni alongside a joint venture with Russian companies started the production of hydrocarbons in the Russian Federation, from the Samburskoye field, located western Siberia, as the group aims to increase its influence on one of the largest gas market in the world.

Statoil makes new discovery near Oseberg

Norway’s Statoil ASA has discovered oil and condensate in the North Sea’s Krafla West prospect. Located around 26 kilometers south-west of the producing Oseberg South find, the discovery well encountered hydrocarbons in two columns with a total thickness of 300 meters.

France could become the first country to ban hydraulic fracturing

On Thursday, June 9th, the French Senate (upper house) passed a bill on hydraulic fracturing which involves amendments to the bill passed by the lower house last month, based on the prohibition of hydrocarbons exploration by way of hydraulic fracturing.
