Russian gas supplies returning to normal levels in the most European states

Russian gas flows to Bulgaria, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Poland and Greece have been reinstated to normal volumes over the weekend, while the gas deliveries to Romania, Germany, and Italy are increasing, European Commission press secretary Marlene Holzner said on Monday.

FERC gives license for New York’s first tidal energy project

The first pilot license, for a 1 MW tidal energy project to be developed in the East Channel of New York’s East River, was issued by Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The project was drafted by New York-based Verdant Power Inc. and will be built in three phases by installing up to 30 commercial class turbines with five fixed generator units to capture energy from tidal flow.

Slovakia officially completed a gas reverse flow project

Slovakia’s gas transmission system operator Eustream announced on Wednesday that it had successfully completed a project worth more than €1 million aimed to reverse natural gas flow from the Czech Republic and Austria to Slovakia, thereby diversifying gas supply transmission routes.

BP to change its strategy on lower production

The British oil giant, BP announced its decision to sell off some $15bn (£9bn) of its assets following the Gulf of Mexico spill which took place last year, as BP engaged to pay increased returns to shareholders and to boost cash flow by 50% by 2014.
