Gamesa to start the 2012 with several new deals

Gamesa, a Madrid –based wind Energy Company, started the year by signing several contracts in order to strengthen its presence in the global energy market. The company signed an agreement with Iberdrola to provide onshore wind turbines until at least 2022, aimed to be installed for planned projects.

UK renewable sector sees crash in investments

The development of new renewable capacity fell significantly this year following a “dash gas” policy of the big six British energy suppliers that could damage UK’s climate change targets and keep households bills up. UK onshore, offshore wind subsidies slashed in favor of marine energy

The British government envisages cutting onshore and offshore wind subsidies from 1 Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) per MWh to 0.9 ROC/MWh and from 2 to 1.9 ROCs/ MWh respectively, while it will boost the support for wave and tidal technologies.
