Daily: Crude oil loses ground as OPEC considers output reduction

Crude oil prices lost ground on Wednesday, dragged down after OPEC sources said that the group will likely consider an output ceiling at its meeting in Vienna on Thursday. U.S. crude's West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures ended down 9 cents at $49.01 a barrel, off a session low of $47.75. Brent futures declined 17 cents to settle at $49.72, after plunging $48.65 earlier. The session high was $50.

Daily: Brent nears $50 a barrel ahead of OPEC producer meeting

Crude oil prices rose toward $50 a barrel on Monday, although uncertainty ahead of an OPEC producer-meeting later in the week was expected to curb gains. Brent crude futures boosted 44 cents to settle at $49.76 a barrel, reversing losses from earlier in the day. There was no settlement in U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures because of the U.S. Memorial Day holiday, but at 18:39 GMT, WTI edged 27 cents up at $49.60.

Daily: Crude oil prices shed after Doha meeting failure

Crude oil prices shed on Monday after a plan by top oil producers to freeze production failed, but a Kuwait oil industry strike helped the market cut losses and rebound from the day’s lows. Brent closed down 19 cents, or 0.4 percent, at $42.91 a barrel. It had declined $3 earlier in the session. U.S. crude WTI slid 58 cents, or 1.4 percent, to settle at $39.78 a barrel, after falling to $37.61 at the day's low.

Daily: European electricity forward prices surpass 10-week highs on coal price recovery

Crude oil prices tumbled on Friday on anticipations that a weekend meeting of top oil exporters will have little impact on reducing an exacerbated glut, even if would provide a ceiling for the market. Brent crude futures eased 74 cents to close at $43.10, while U.S. crude settled down $1.14 cents at $40.36. Both contracts declined by more than 3.5 percent earlier in the day.
