Daily: Brent oil down due to Hurricane Sandy

Brent crude futures decreased on Monday because of a temporary drop in refinery consumption on the East Coast, due to the hurricane Sandy, which could temporarily curb demand for crude in the region. Brent December crude dropped by 11 cents and settled at $109.44 a barrel, after having traded from $108.51 to $110.26.

China’s natural gas consumption to rise to 230 bcm by 2015

The National Development and Reform Commission released new data according to which natural gas consumption in China will reach 230 billion cubic meters in 2015, as the Asian country has approved the natural gas development plan for the current 12th five year economic plan for 2015.

A hike in UK coal consumption may jeopardize the climate change targets

According to some data released by the Department of Energy and Climate Change, the rate of coal consumption in the UK thermal power generators remains at its highest levels since 2006, with the country thermal consumption at electricity generators up by 37% in comparison to the same period last year, up to 35.1 million metric tons.

Daily: Brent crude futures settle lower on Friday after IEA cuts demand outlook

Brent crude oil futures settled at $114.62 a barrel on Friday, down $1.09 a barrel after the International Energy Agency (IEA) cut its demand growth outlook. Meanwhile, U.S. crude futures for November delivery dropped 21 cents on Friday to settle at $91.86 a barrel after the IEA forecasted an eventual decline in oil consumption growth.
