Germany has installed 543 MW of Solar Power Capacity

According to the data received by the German Federal Network Agency, Germany added 543 MW of new photovoltaic capacity in July 2012, a little less than the 572 MW added in July 2011 , reaching a total of 4.9 GW of Germany’s total installed capacity for the first half of 2012

UK: SSE customers to see their energy bills up 9%

SSE, UK energy utility, announced that from mid-October electricity and gas bills will increase by 9%, blaming higher energy network costs, regulation and higher commodity prices. Around half of the cost of SSE's energy bills is determined by wholesale levels.

Germany sets new solar power record in the first six months of 2012

The German Federal Network Agency announced that more than 4.3 GW were installed in the first six months of the year, while in the same period last year were installed only 1.71 GW. This change is due to the new feed-in tariff legislation which introduced in June new monthly tariff degressions.

Daily: UK gas climbs on undersupplied network

Brent crude declined towards $107 per barrel on Friday after a hike of about 18 percent over four weeks, following a slight ease of the conflict in the Middle East. Brent climbed to an eight-week high in the last session, the highest level for seven consecutive days, driven by Middle East conflict and disruptions in output in the North Sea.

Grid operators to build a power interconnector between Norway and UK

UK’s National Grid signed a deal with Norwegian group Statnett to develop the world’s longest subsea power cable (700 km), called the North Sea Network by 2020.
